After Election Day, New York’s new public marketing campaign finance program took impact for future election cycles.
In an effort to curb the affect of rich donors, smaller marketing campaign contributions ranging between $5 to $250 can now be matched with public funding, much like New York Metropolis’s current marketing campaign finance system.
Though this system hopes to empower on a regular basis New Yorkers, together with reducing limitations for individuals who are operating for public workplace, some advocates have expressed considerations that Tremendous PACs may undermine the system.
Joanna Zdanys, a senior counsel within the Brennan Middle for Justice’s Democracy Program, joined Bobby Cuza on “Inside Metropolis Corridor” Friday to interrupt down the brand new system.
“It’s an amazing response to the issue of huge cash in our state’s politics and actually stands to make a distinction in serving to on a regular basis New Yorkers have a better say within the choices that have an effect on their lives,” she stated.
