South African Finance Minister Names Legwaila as Tax Ombudsman

South African Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana appointed Thabo Legwaila as appearing tax ombudsman.

Legwaila has been chief government officer of the Workplace of the Tax Ombud since April 2020 and was beforehand head of tax for Africa at Citibank NA. He replaces Bernard Ngoepe, whose time period ended Sept. 30.

The tax ombudsman works to resolve taxpayers’ complaints in opposition to the South African Income Service.
